Two Things

I was speaking with a friend the other day about the things that define us. He pointed out two things that have daily impact on our lives.

The first is the things we say to ourselves. We all speak to ourselves. This monologue of thought has an incredibly powerful impact on our lives. Speak to yourself negatively often enough and you will become a negative person. Your energy will become negative and you will repel good things and people. Speak to yourself positively and the world will become a warm and wonderful place full of wonderful people and opportunities.

The words we speak to ourselves are incredibly powerful. We tend to move in the direction of our most dominant thought.

The second thing that defines us is the people we choose to surround ourselves with. Sooner or later we all rise or fall to the level of our friends. If we surround ourselves with people who are joyful and virtuous, we are more likely to become joyful and virtuous. Are your friends helping you become the-best-version-of-yourself? Are you helping them become the-best-version-of-themselves?

What adjustments do both of us need to act upon to make these two things a positive in our life?
