Before the global economic crisis, there was a lot of talk in the aviation MRO community about finding and retaining good maintenance and engineering staff. Several companies had started working with local training organizations and offering apprenticeships.
With some MROs laying off people now, what impact will this have long-term on the industry? Will these people come back when the industry rebounds? In previous recessions and economic hard times, some maintenance and engineering professional simply left aviation.
What short- and long-term impact will these layoffs have to MRO?

Its normally the well trained staff that does a good job.
Most staff look at good economic packages & security of job.
The best folks are the ones with passion for the field, but they are tough to identify in less time.
