Pitot Stactic Test Rig - Help Needed

Rich Slater, Midtown Air Service

I want to build my own Pitot Stactic Test Rig and Vacuum System Eliminator and happen to be an old guy (A&P in 1959) and remember an AC or something issued by the FAA in the later 60's on testing and building your own rig. I think it was in response to the first FAA requirement for such testing.

Any thoughts on the subject would help. I have checked parts 43 and 91 and current and cancelled AC's.

I have put together a schematic layout that I would like those that have an interst to please comment on. The schematic is below, click it for a full screen version.

Thanks,

Rich Slater, Midtown Air Service

Mr Slater -

I am old too, not quite so old... been doing avionics including pitot static tests/certs since Ronald Reagan's first term. I would love to be helpful if I could...

You simply need a vacuum pump, tank, some fittings and altimeter and air speed indicator. VSI is real helpful, too.

You can email me at [email protected] and I would love to help.

Just a comment on a static tester. I to am old and remember building a set when I was young and energenic. I used a blood pressure bulb and reversed the lines to enable it to draw a vaccum. Coupled it with an altimeter and airspeed indicator. By reversing the lines off of the bulb I could use it to build a pressure in the pitot system.

I believe you may be talking about AC 43-203A dated 6/6/67. This AC was canceled and replaced by AC43-203B on 6/20/79.

Anyway the description of what is needed is there but not a diagram of how it goes together.
