The April issue of D.O.M. Director of Maintenance magazine, editor Joe Escobar dedicated his article to mentoring. He decided to start a discussion on how we can help prepare the next generation of maintenance managers. Joe goes into his own career and identifies those mentors that molded him to become the best version of himself and to hone his aviation maintenance skills. After becoming a supervisor he made it a point to willingly share as much of his knowledge to the young technician’s any way he could. He continued to get encouragement from mentoring, which allowed him to continue his career growth.
Joe asks the readers of D.O.M. what are you doing to help prepare our future leaders? What is your company doing to help attract, retain, and grow the talent we need in this industry? Besides getting involved as a mentor in your organization, I’d recommend that you introduce all aspiring technicians to D.O.M. magazine. It's a rich source to learn the business of aircraft maintenance as they transition to the next generation of maintenance manager's.
