Hamilton Sunstrand has issued SIL APS500-49-513-R1 to inform operators of aircraft with APS500 Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) that accurate records of operational cycles is required for tracking of life-limited parts.
The revised letter states that a cycle/hour meter device is installed on the APU to record the cycle/hour data. In the unlikely event that the meter does not function properly, the operator is required to maintain the data manually. The intent of the letter is to assist operators if needed, to adjust the cycle/hours of the APS500 APU.
The Hamilton document is titled, “Guidelines for Determination of Cycle and Operating Hours Manually.”
