OK, let me start by saying I have been in the GA sector of aviation all my life, no military experience at all. So I need some education from my fellow maintainers who have this extra in-site into aircraft maintenance.
So here is my problem. I am reading the June issue of Air & Space article on the F15 as the last dog-fighter when the following caught my eye; "F-15Cs require 11 hours of maintenance for every hour of flight". 11 hours? Does it get a extensive inspection after each flight? Does it need a lot of items changed after each flight? I generally trust the Smithsonian and Air & Space to be accurate. How can this aircraft need tat much maintenance? Are other military aircraft the same?
