William (Bill) O’Brien Aviation Maintenance Technician Awards Program

This advisory circular (AC) outlines the participation requirements for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) William (Bill) O’Brien Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Awards Program. This revision to the AC provides instructions for AMTs and the employers of AMTs participating in the online William (Bill) O’Brien Awards Program and addresses all the changes to the program.

2. EFFECTIVE DATE. The effective date is 06/03/09.

3. CANCELLATION. AC 65-25D, Aviation Maintenance Technician Awards Program, dated February 7, 2007, is canceled.

The "My AMT" section at http://www.faasafety.gov/ went live today. Changes to note in the award program:

- On-line, so no need to submit an application and documentation to your FSDO

- Log training as you receive it or sit down at the end of the year and log your training. You have until the end of January each year to enter

- No more bent pins from the FAA in the mail (no more pins)

- Core training course is a requirement for all. May include one of more on-line courses each year

- no waiting for the FSDO to process and mail certificate, you be able to print one out in January
