FAA allows ADS-B to be installed on aircraft without STC

 


The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a new policy that allows for Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast units to be installed on aircraft without a supplemental type certificate, and indeed, in some cases, without any FAA involvement at all. "Basically we’re talking a radio installation; it’s not major surgery," said Bill Stone of Garmin.
