Prevent Strut Leaks by Cleaning Filter Discs Daily
525, 525A, 525B, 550, 560 and 560XL,

Citation Customer Service recommends that operators include cleaning the exposed portion of the oleo strut piston surfaces as part of daily aircraft maintenance.

Aircraft with trailing link main landing gear have oleo strut pistons with a filter disc in the bearing area that allows the strut to ventilate during operation. Dirt and runway grime sometimes work past the oleo scraper and seal , and can eventually plug the filter disc. A plugged disc can cause the oleo strut to build up pressure and leak fluid around the piston seal.
