THE USC AVIATION SAFETY AND SECURITY PROGRAM INTRODUCES A NEW COURSE- SMS FOR MANAGERS

The success or failure of an SMS is directly dependent upon support from the management cadre of an organization. The USC Aviation Safety and Security Program has developed a SMS training course for managers and supervisors. This course explains the fundamentals of SMS and why the system works. It focuses on the particular functions and responsibilities that managers have within a SMS. The particular benefits to an organization are detailed. ICAO standards and FAA guidance are reviewed.

This is a ten-hour course conducted over a period of two days. Classroom instruction is held for six hours on Day 1 and four hours on the morning of Day 2. The schedule optimizes management focused learning and allows managers partial days to devote to their normal responsibilities.

The course is offered as an off-campus contract course or as a residential course at our Los Angeles campus.
